The Story of Christ's Passion through Jazz

Originally premiering in March of 2010, Victorious, Eternal, Light: A JAZZ PASSION is the result of a collaborative process between Pastor David Abrahamson and composers Andy Tecson, Bobby Lewis, and Bobby Schiff in an effort to create, in modern language and the jazz idiom, a musical account of Jesus’ ultimate act for our salvation.

This work has its origins in the long history of musical portrayals of the Passion Story, and it boldly proclaims Christ’s mercy and grace.

Perform A Jazz Passion

The Jazz Passion is available in the original version for 12 instruments, vocal quartet, SATB choir and soloists. It is also available in a condensed version with a piano part that has all of the notes written out so that the pianist does not need to read jazz chords, an SATB choir score, and a part for one optional wind instrument. Each of the 12 compositions can be obtained individually, facilitating the use of a single piece for a worship service as opposed to staging the entire Passion. As an example, Recall Retain Repeat can be used on Maundy Thursday, Finished and It’s Over can be used on Good Friday, and Resurrection and For You, For Me and For All can be used on Easter.
