Thursday, March 2, 2017, 8 p.m., Andy Tecson will participate in an improvisation with other musicians participating in the annual Liturgical Conference of the United Lutheran Church of Germany (VELKD) at the Thomas Kirche in Leipzig, Germany, the church at which J.S. Bach served as music director.

Friday, March 3, 2017, 4:15 p.m. Andy Tecson will participate with Ike Sturm, Chand Rule and Jared Stahler of St. Peters Church, New York,  Tord Gustavsen, Oslo and Johannes Landgren, Gothenburg in a discussion of International  Jazz Ministries as part of the VELKD Liturgical Conference.

Saturday, March 4, 2017, 8:00 p.m.  Victorious, Eternal, Light,  a Jazz Passion and Resurrection. Leipzig, Germany. It will feature composers Bobby Schiff, piano, Andy Tecson,  alto sax, along with ChurchJazz Band member Ken Jandes on tenor sax.  The jazz department from Hochschule Hannover, one of the great jazz programs in Germany, will provide the balance of the band. The conductor of the jazz department of Hannover, Raphael Thone, will direct the piece. The choir will be provided by the conservatories (Offentliche Musikschulen) of Leipzig and Dresden, led by jazz singer Sabine Helmbold.

Sunday, March 5, 2017,  18:00 Uhr (6:00 p.m.)  Victorious, Eternal, Light, a Jazz Passion and Resurrection, American Church in Berlin, Denniwitzplatz, Berlin, Germany.  This concert, along with the Leipzig concert, constitutes the European premiere of this work. Sunday, April 9, 2017, 5 p.m., Victorious, Eternal, Light, a Jazz Passion and Resurrection, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 619 Lexington Avenue at 54th Street, New York, New York featuring composers Bobby Schiff, piano, Bobby Lewis, trumpet, Andy Tecson, sax, and ChurchJazz band member Ken Jandes, bari sax, along with Marvin Stamm on trumpet, Lawrence Feldman on sax and Ike Sturm on bass , Hannah Newman-Jacobs, Kelly Langevin, Jeffrey Langevin and  Samuel Macy who are members of the Valparaiso University Choir, directed by Christopher Cock. This is the New York premiere. Support for this celebration is provided by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America and Thrivent as part of the Luther 500 celebration.  Admission is free.

Join us at 4 p.m. on  Sunday, June 17, for a concert of Jazz Psalms at Grace Lutheran Church, 7300 W. Division, River Forest.  Admission is free. A homily will be given by Dr. Martin E. Marty, author of over 60 books, University of Chicago Distinguished Service Professor Emeritus, and recipient of medals for his contributions to the humanities from Presidents Carter and Clinton. A free will offering will support the ministry of Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, which arranges for transportation for children to travel from Chicago for visits with their mothers in downstate prisons, giving the mothers and children a chance to spend time together reading books and visiting. Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois will also be a beneficiary of this service. Andy Tecson composed this music 30 years ago, and it features some of the best jazz musicians in Chicago along with a fantastic choir.
