Victorious, Eternal, Light: A JAZZ PASSION is the result of a collaborative process between Pastor David Abrahamson and composers Andy Tecson, Bobby Lewis and Bobby Schiff in an effort to create, in modern language and the jazz idiom, a musical account of Jesus’ ultimate act for our salvation. The form of this production has its origins in the long history of Passion music and drama and pushes the limits of the genre to create a lively instrument for proclamation and teaching for people of the 21st century.
The Jazz Passion is a continuation of the ChurchJazz ministry. For three decades, the ChurchJazz Ensemble, let by Andy Tecson, has brought jazz liturgies, Psalm settings and hymn settings into Sunday morning worship, hymn festivals, church conventions, and fundraisers for social service agencies and humanitarian efforts.
